The State of Alabama engaged Periscope to help determine the best way to implement Enterprise Resource the State. With an understanding of the State’s legal and administrative requirements, as well as key gaps in the current system, Periscope researched ERP functionality claims and assesPlanning (ERP) software. Periscope served as procurement thought leaders to review leading ERP vendors, and to recommend procurement and contract management business processes forsed how the systems were actually used by other state governments. Our resulting recommendations helped the State develop an effective method for evaluating ERP vendors and progress with its procurement automation efforts.

NIGP Sourcing Improvement Expertise
Periscope’s NIGP Services performs a thorough technical analysis of how effectively your organization is utilizing the industry-standard NIGP Code. We identify ways you can improve its usage to streamline your organization’s spend for long-term, recurring savings.
The City of Houston engaged Periscope to improve the visibility of inactive and duplicate inventory throughout the City’s system. Periscope, the sole custodian of the NIGP Commodity/Services Code, assigned 11-digit NIGP Codes to all of the City’s inventory items, identifying duplicates within and across locations. With a standardized commodity structure and standard description for all inventory items, Periscope was able to reconcile the City’s inventory database and perform an accurate spend analysis, ultimately reducing the number of items from 88,000 to about 20,000. This reduction of duplicated items and the added visibility of consistent product numbers has helped the City decrease carrying costs and increase productivity citywide.

BuySpeed™ eProcurement Optimization Expertise
Periscope’s BuySpeed™ Services provides technology implementation to make sure everything about our eProcurement system works to meet your organization’s needs. Process-focused project management ensures implementation happens on-budget, on-time, and with the utmost effectiveness.
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has used BuySpeed™ for over a decade. The department manages its procurement operations through three regions with central oversight but decentralized functioning to accommodate individual needs. BuySpeed™ provides a single, unified procurement system, while also supporting the different business requirements of each region. Periscope has implemented, among other technologies: a consolidated database for all regions and vendors to use; an interface with the Anchorage International Airport work-order system, to eliminate duplicative data entry and offer more information to airport maintenance staff; and a custom remote installation of BuySpeed™ offline solution for use by the Alaska Marine Highway System.
